J.D., University of Notre Dame Law School, 2002
B.A., English, University of California, Los Angeles, 1999

Cathy has over 20 years’ experience litigating employment claims in California. After years of defending and advising employers, Cathy came to the realization that she was frequently on the wrong side of an issue and that employees were often not receiving the representation they deserved.

Drawing on her passion for social justice and women’s rights, Cathy relishes bringing her years of experience to work for employees. Together with Beth, she fights every day to help employee clients obtain the respect, compensation and justice to which they are entitled under the law.

Prior to founding Gunn Coble, Cathy was a shareholder at a national employment defense firm, where she handled sexual harassment, gender discrimination, disability discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, wrongful termination, age discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, and wage and hour claims. As a mother to two young children, Cathy understands the particular challenges working parents and pregnant employees can face. Assisting clients with gender discrimination and pay equity claims are a particular calling for her.  Cathy has seen cases through every stage of the process, and loves fighting the good fight.

Cathy received her B.A. magna cum laude in English literature with a minor in women’s studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. Upon graduation from UCLA, Cathy was elected to membership in the Eta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Cathy went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where she learned to practice law with competence and compassion.

While at Notre Dame, Cathy served as a legal intern for four semesters at the Notre Dame Legal Aid Clinic and as a summer law clerk for Public Counsel’s Homelessness Prevention Project. As a Notre Dame Law alumna, Cathy believes in her alma mater’s mission to advocate for a stronger relationship between law and social justice. In pursuing this mission, Cathy is honored to be recognized by her peers as a leader in employment litigation by the Southern California Super Lawyers, who selected her as a Super Lawyer from 2019 to 2022, and previously voted her a Rising Star from 2015 to 2017.
